Ch 16 – Agencies

Procedural law that governs how agencies regulate. The Administrative Procedure act identifies these procedures.

APA defines "agency" as each authority of the Government of the United States . . . not includ[ing Congress, the courts, state governments, etc.]"

Agencies that are less subject to the president's influence because they are often headed by multimember boards from both political parties. The members are protected from at-will removal. They are independent from the president.

Securities and Exchange Commission, the Federal Trade Commission, the Federal Election Commission, the Equal Employment Opportunity COmmission, and the National Labor Relations Board.
