FN Health Week 5

SDH are different factors in people's physical, social, economic and biological environments that affect their health.
Breaking them into individual faucets allows us to analyze them to measure health.

There are 13:

Social Support Networks
Education and Literacy
Employment and Working Conditions
Social Environment
Personal Health Practices
Healthy Child Development
Biology and Genetic Endowment
Health Services
Gender
Culture
Physical Environment
Ecosystem Health

They can be used to measure the health of populations, understand areas that can be improved, and to judge whether measures are working.

This creates the conditions for which health can occur, leading to healthier individuals.

Gaia Theory speaks to ideas about how the complex ecosystem that make up earth also make life possible, implying that humans are integral in the system.

Indig epistimology follows similar ideas about humans being part of the ecosystem, and ecosystem health being a part of human health.

Gaia Theory provides a theoretical context to consider the Environment as a SDH. It gives weight to this idea, proves it if you will

improvements in SDH influence how indigenous people feel about the their culture and community. Improving cultural and social aspects of health for instance contribute to Indig cultural identity.
