On Tuesday, September 7, 2021, El Salvador made a historic policy that made it officially become the first country in the world to adopt Bitcoin as the legal tender allowing the popular digital currency to be used in all transactions along with the United States dollar, which has been El Salvador’s official currency since 2001. The international bitcoin community has significantly praised this big and bold move of the digital currency adoption by the tech-savvy El Salvador president, Nayib Bukele. President Nayib Bukele publicized his country’s policy adopting bitcoin as a legal tender at the Bitcoin 2021 Conference in Miami.
