Writing your Paper with the MyBib Online Citation Generator

Adding your sources

A: Website

1. Click Create Citation.
2. Copy and paste the website address into the search box under the Website tab, then click Search.
3. It will suggest the credibility of the source, please evaluate before citing your work.
4. Click the auto-populated item, and check the accuracy of the information and referencing format to ensure it follows the College guidelines before clicking Save.

B: Journal Article

1. Click Create Citation.
2. Select the Journal tab.
3. Type in the journal article title or DOI (Digital Object Identifier) in the search box, then click Search or drag and drop a PDF document to the assigned area below the search box to perform the search.
4. Choose the proper auto-populated item, and check the information and referencing format to ensure it follows the College guidelines before clicking ‘Save’.

C: Book

1. Click Create Citation.
2. Select the Book tab.
3. Type in the book title or ISBN (International Standard Book Number) in the search box, then click Search.

D: Adding your sources manually

1. Click Create Citation.

2. Drag and drop your document from the computer library and into the space provided.

Citing your paper

Auto-cite

To cite a website in APA, MLA, or Harvard style, open the MyBib citation generator and select your style. MyBib now supports APA 6 and 7, MLA 8 and 9, and Harvard. Next, paste the web address or URL and hit Search.

Manual citation

1. Go to mybib.com
2. Choose your referencing style
3. Choose your type of source
4. Enter bibliographical information
5. Click on ‘generate’

Generating your bibliography

Option 1: Copy & Paste

1. Once your reference has been created, click on ‘Copy bibliography entry’ or ‘Copy in-text citation’ from the options of a specific record.
2. Or select several records at one time and click the icon to copy in-text citations or bibliography in one click.
3. A message will inform you that the bibliography or in-text citation has been copied.
4. Paste it in your Microsoft Word document with Ctrl + v.
5. Check the referencing format to ensure it follows the College guidelines.

Option 2: Downloading the bibliography

1. Click Download Bibliography to choose your preferred option.
2. A formatted bibliography will be generated based on the option you have chosen.
