Hanging out with my cousin Varaprasad is fun but it takes up much of my productive time. I will start to limit time spend with Vara, preferably only on Saturdays, and spend no more than three hours at their place. Family is an essential pillar of life but sometimes they can hold you back. Since, we were small, I have always sought approval from my cousin and often, I have been forced to pretend to adopt his care-free attitude, sometimes at my own peril. I need to be my authentic self and I believe that reducing the time I spend with Vara will assist me to get started on the journey of self-discovery.

I must cut off the time I spend with some of my close friends. We often attend social events and spend a lot of time and money. From now I will only attend friendly gatherings once every fortnight, especially when meeting up with friends who add little value to my personal and professional life. Friends are vital to have since they make life easier. However, some friends like Dinesh and Shalini act like anchors keeping me stuck in the same routine that has offered little advancement. Other friends like Eeshwar are only interested in using me to get their way while adding no value in my life.

I must get rid of few colleagues who are stumbling blocks in my journey to attaining professional success. I will avoid interactions with these individuals who give much time engaging in activities outside our professional domain. I find that I am not getting the right stimulus to become better when associating with these individuals. Persons like Santhosh and Chiranjeev are detractors who will do and say anything to put you down while they advance. These characters are self-serving and selfish. They poison whoever is around them with their negative emotions. These characters stir up chaos and create a toxic professional environment which in turn negatively impacts performance.
