Assignment
(1) Create a Personal Consultation Statement AND
(2) Choose your path for project focus
Description
There are two (2) parts to the first project:
1.
PERSONAL CONSULTATION STATEMENT: Create your own personal statement (from scratch/from your understanding of your consultant “skills”) regarding your educational consultation/interpersonal style and role/responsibility. Think about this as how you may present yourself to others/administrators in a district if you were to be asked to consult. It is expected that this will evolve throughout the course,
and it will be revisited at the end.
The minimum length is 2 paragraphs. Please see the rubric.
View this similar to a cover letter for a potential employer (although do not use letter format). Please see the rubric to guide you! Be sure to write w/ your audience in mind (potential public school administrator), introduce yourself, tell about your relevant experiences and skills, demonstrate your ability to collaborate/work as part of a team (what does this look like, how would you go about it), etc. If a potential employer were to read this, would they get a sense of who you are and what you have to offer? Does your passion and dedication shine through?
While I don’t have a sample, I found these samples on the web. While they are
not
the best samples, but they’ll give you an idea…

2.
CHOOSE YOUR PATH: For this course, you will be working on a project that helps prepare you for public school consultation. Within public schools, there are a variety of ways Behavior Analysts can and do support the schools through consultation. Based on this, there are three (3) options for project work you can choose from:
1. Student-specific consultation
2. Program or classroom specific consultation
3. District-wide consultation
Once you choose your path this will dictate the projects within each module. You are to stay on the path you choose throughout the course. For this you simply need to select one of the three choices above – no need to elaborate on specific student, class, or district.
*Please reach out to discuss your path if you have questions or want guidance!
