First and foremost you need to win over your team, ensuring that the company and its employees know that you are present and there. First thing I have learned as a Shop Foreman is to engage and ensure that my employees are on the same page, the same can be said about this topic. On the same token, my company ensures all employees are kept informed, regardless of the position within in the company. With me being in charge of the cyber team, I would coax all employees to join a company tabletop exercise and continue that trend on a weekly basis. If compliance was an issue, I would eventually (year or two down the road — maybe less) making it a mandatory yearly meeting and then moving from bi yearly and so on.

I think the best ways to obtain commitment and engagement from an organization is selecting the right employees, training, and policy. The first step would be selecting employees that are passionate about their job and have a sense of commitment to the business. Training employees on the seriousness of incident response and disaster recovery and how to accomplish both would be essential. Finally, conducting routine tabletop exercises can be established in the company policy. This can make it a requirement to accomplish routine tabletop exercise and have plans in place.

Planning for business continuity is something that firms should ideally do, and one set of risks that senior management cannot overlook is cybersecurity. Although it is not difficult to mitigate cybersecurity issues, it does take careful preparation, documentation, and practice. Organizations can recover from security incidents as a result, preventing significant damage to their operations. The following are some strategies for getting an organization’s commitment and involvement in setting up and conducting regular tabletop exercises for incident response and disaster recovery plans: Instill the idea that everyone has a responsibility to ensure security because they do. Put awareness first. Assure that management and leadership take data and feedback into account. Reward those that act responsibly for protection and are aware of it. Tabletop exercises are crucial because managers must demonstrate how much and whether employees comprehend business continuity planning.

Two of the leadership styles that I thought might be most effective would be the pacesetting and democratic leadership
The pacesetting leadership style emphasizes the leader setting the pace for the organization by adopting a “Do as I do. Now” mentality. Team members observe the pace-setting leader’s speed, performance, and job quality. The leader sets the standard, so the team is expected to do the same thing (Lindberg, 2023).
Democratic leadership is a kind of leadership based on the open flow of ideas within a group. Everyone on the team has the same amount of authority as the leader, and everyone has an equal opportunity to make decisions. The leader of the Democrats runs the meeting and asks questions to get feedback from the group and involve everyone in making decisions. So, democratic leadership is a type of group leadership that focuses more on how actions affect people than how they affect tasks (Lindberg, 2023).

At any management point, whether you are leading a large or small project, the most challenging item to manage is people. I think each individual has their work ethic and believe that all should revolve around what they think, you will find leaders and innovators who will try to find means and way to complete the project and bring to the table some excellent ideas, and you will also find people who are back seat passengers. The team member who is passengers are the ones you have to coach and motivate constantly. The primary leadership style is when you can educate them and provide constant coaching to bring their skills up to par. Once you feel that the primary leadership style is work, you can later reward them with monetary rewards to show them they are appreciated if they stay focused.
We must continually encourage a learning and teaching culture within our team; if someone fails, it becomes crucial for a team leader to help them

The six leadership styles described by Daniel Goleman are visionary, coaching, affiliative, democratic, pacesetting, and commanding. The two that would be best suited for a predicted length IT project would be affiliative and coaching as a secondary. Utilizing affiliative will ensure that teamwork is a focus for the team and to assist in minimizing conflict. This method has benefits such as increasing morale, improving communications, and can also be a good method in repairing broken trust (Schwalbe). The coaching method allows for individual attention to be given to each team member. This allows the leader to correct or guide an individual as well as hear any concerns that should be brought up in private. Coaching also provides opportunities for encouraging individual growth both within the project and in day-to-day operations.
