For this assignment, you will focus on Logic and Fallacies.
Research an article that describes an ethical issue you are particularly interested in. This can be related to your career path, a hobby, or anything else that catches your moral interest. Be sure to cite to the article in a works cited page at the end of this assignment. Whatever your source, be sure it is mainstream and credible. If you are not sure, access the library resources posted in this course or contact the professor.
In your assignment, write the following:
1.
Brief description – In a few sentences, describe the main moral issue presented in the article you researched.
2.
Syllogism – Create one original logical syllogism to make a conclusion from the evidence provided in the article.
· You must have at least two premises that lead to the conclusion.
· Your argument must flow
· In bold print, identify if you have written a
cogent, inductive, or
sound, deductive argument.
3.
Fallacy – Create one original illogical argument (
fallacy) that could be used in a false attempt to manipulate another into believing something that is against the evidence in the article.
· Name and Define the fallacy you are using. If you use a subset of a fallacy define the subset.
· Provide the example that fits that fallacy
·
Bold print the name of the fallacy.
4.
Reflection – In one well-written paragraph, discuss how you may use the above to logically persuade a person to a good moral conclusion on this issue.
