Final Draft, COVID-19 Safety Paragraph
Please submit the final draft of the first paragraph here. You will need to save your paragraph as a Word document and upload the file here.
Before you submit your final draft, be sure to double-check the following. These are the criteria I will be using to grade your work:
Review Questions:
1. Look at the topic sentence. Is it a complete sentence? Make sure that it’s not a fragment or written like a “title.” For example, “Steps for staying safe while grocery shopping.” This would be a fragment. Instead, write: “There are four steps I take to stay safe from COVID-19 while grocery shopping.” This would be a complete sentence.
2. Look for the first step. Could you find it easily? Is there a transition? What is the transition? ____________________
Are there specific details that describe this step? Ask yourself whether a reader could follow along without having to ask follow-up questions.
3. Now look for the second step. What is the transition? _________________ If it’s missing, write one in.
Are there specific details for this step? Is there enough detail? If no, suggest what could be added to make it “A-level specific.”
4. Find the third step. Transition? _______________
Remember, specific writing is interesting writing! Details like a person’s name can help your reader connect with your writing. Are there enough interesting details?
5. Find the fourth step. Transition?
How many steps are there? There should be at least four, but no more than six.
6. Is there a conclusion sentence?
7. Finally, edit your paragraph the best you can for any errors such as fragments, run-ons, or misspelt words.

ABIGAIL’S POST:
One thing I am still really struggling with is naming of the alkenes. The book says “When naming the alkenes one should use the rules fir nomenclature established by the international union of pure and applied chemicals. First name the longest continuous chain of carbons containing the double bond. second give the address of the double bond by using the smallest numbers. Number the carbons in the longest chain so that the carbons on either side of the double bond have the smallest numbers address is the address of the double bond. Then name the carbon side-chain from largest to smallest. Give addresses for all side-chains using the address from the carbons as determined by the address of the double bond. This makes it seem so simple and it makes it step by step but I thing I am really struggling because I can not remember the prefix’s and suffix’s. Any tips?
