2.1 Assignment. TheoMedia Part 2
Instructions
1. Review the information in the Getting Started section.
2. Read
TheoMedia Chapter 4.
3. Write a 1-2 page reflection paper responding to two or more of the prompts below.
a. Byers stated that “since the entire cosmos has been affected by sin, technology is never developed or applied in pure neutrality.” Technology can be used to help or harm, destroy or redeem. Christian theology would indicate that the ends do not justify the means, that the means by which we accomplish something must be equally righteous as the ends. How does this influence the way you consider how you use technology?
b. Byers quoted McLuhan’s adage “the medium is the message.” We can apply this by saying that the technology that is used influences the results. How have you seen different technologies used to bring about the same purpose, and how did the different technologies influence the result?
c. How do you think the information from this week might impact your leadership? Your spiritual formation?
d. If you don’t have a Christian worldview, how does your worldview inform technology use issues?
4. Be sure to format your paper using APA and correct citations.
2.2 Assignment. Leadership and Conflict
Getting Started
As we lead, we will inevitably end up needing to lead our families, teams, and organizations through conflict. The better prepared we can be for these times of conflict, the easier it will be to lead when the conflict arises. This week you will be introduced to conflict resolution tools via Chapter 11 from
Introduction to Leadership by Northouse and via a video called 4 Paths to Resolving Conflict. You will then apply these tools by considering a recent conflict you have either participated in or witnessed. By taking time to think through why this conflict either was or was not resolved well, you will become better prepared for the next conflict you find yourself in.
1. Read Chapter 11 from
Introduction to Leadership: Concepts and Practice 5th ed. (90-120 minutes)
.
You must request this resource directly from Online Campus Library Services (OCLS). Please allow a minimum of two (2) business days (not including weekends or holidays) for OCLS to finish your request.

4 Paths to Resolving Conflict
(new tab)
. (10 minutes)
3. Write a paper addressing the prompts below:
a. Consider a conflict you have either participated in or have witnessed in your organization. Identify the organization, who was involved in the conflict, and what happened. (250-500 words)
b. Using the tools from the Northouse chapter and the video, analyze why the conflict occurred. If the conflict was handled well, use the tools from the Northouse chapter and the video to identify what those in the conflict did to help reach this good outcome. If the conflict was not handled well, use the tools from the Northouse chapter and the video to identify what those in the conflict did that escalated the conflict. Likely you will have witnessed some good things and some bad things occurring within the conflict, so feel free to identify both. (250-500 words)
c. Conflicts often involve difficult conversations. Use the tools you developed in LDR-415: Communication for Leaders to analyze how these difficult conversations were handled and how that contributed to a positive or negative resolution for the conflict. (250-500 words)
4. Be sure to format your paper using APA and correct citations.

2.4 Assignment. Decision-Making Flowchart Draft
Getting Started
In LDR-305: Ethics and Decision-Making for Leaders you discussed ethical decision-making. In that course, you read the article
The Ethical Leader’s Decision Tree
(new tab)
. In that article, you saw a flowchart that could be used for making a decision. In this course, you will make your own decision-making flowchart. This visual guide can help you make sure you are considering all aspects of a decision before taking action. The resources from this week will provide examples of decision-making steps. Review what you learned in LDR-410: Leading with Wisdom, Vision, and Values and consider how wisdom, vision, and values should be incorporated into decisions. Do not worry about incorporating learnings from this class into the flowchart yet. Please identify some issue related to your current work to build the flowchart around. You will have a chance to update the flowchart in

3.1 Assignment. TheoMedia Part 3
Instructions
1. Review the rubric to make sure you understand the criteria for earning your grade.
2. Review the information in the Getting Started section.
3. Read
TheoMedia chapters 5 and 6.
4. Write a 1-2 page reflection paper responding to two or more of the prompts below.
a. In chapter 5, Byers indicated that creation is one form of media God uses to communicate with us. Do you see God when you look at creation? If so, when and where? How does this impact your spiritual formation?
b. In chapter 6, Byers discussed how God instructed the Israelites to use technology. How does this realization inform your view of technology and how leaders might use it today?
c. Byers admitted that our lives are saturated by media. How could you lessen your saturation of media or refocus your media use to help you grow in your spiritual formation or leadership instead of, as Neil Postman wrote, “amusing ourselves to death”?
5. Be sure to format your paper using APA and correct citations.
3.4 Assignment. Leader2Leader Questions
Getting Started
(
Image transcript
(Word document)
)
This week you will develop a set of questions to ask the leader you will interview. These questions should allow you to glean new knowledge and insight from a leader related to their use of technology, big data, AI, and how they use these tools to make decisions.
Instructions
1. Review the rubric to make sure you understand the criteria for earning your grade.
2. In preparation for your dialogue, submit the following in outline format:
a. Name and title of the interviewee (who you will have your Leader2Leader dialogue with).
b. Why they are an appropriate person to interview for this particular set of questions. What is their history or background with using big data, technology, or AI to make leadership decisions?
c. A set of 7-10 questions or discussion starters for your upcoming L2L conversation.
d. An appendix that lists for each LDR course the names of previous leaders interviewed.
3. Questions should not be simple “Yes” – “No” questions but should allow the leader you selected to provide thoughtful explanations that will contribute to your understanding of the topic.
4. Questions should display variety, not focusing on one or two topics. Be sure to take time to review what you have learned this week and during the earlier workshops. Clearly connect each question to a principle represented in the course material.
5. Keep in mind the dialogue should be 30 minutes or less. So, you may not have time to ask all the questions you develop. Consider how you arrange or outline the questions. What flow exists between the questions? Which ones are most essential? What ones might serve as follow-up questions?

3.3 Assignment. Reflective Essay – Technology, AI, VUCA, and the Future Nature of Work
Getting Started
In this assignment, you are encouraged to bring together what you have learned through the first three weeks. In these three weeks, you have learned about Big Data, Artificial Intelligence, the Fourth Industrial Revolution, VUCA, and more. Learning about these things is only helpful if you can turn these learnings into tools that you can use in your workplace (or to be used at a future workplace). One example might be reports analyzing an individual’s production or quality that requires context to understand or does not consider all relevant factors. You have inevitably thought of ways these technological advances might impact the organization you work at as well as the organizations your friends and family members work at. You likely have identified concerns. How can you address those as a leader?
Then, you are challenged to apply that new knowledge to a current situation in which you are a leader. Then, in the second and third sections, you are asked to draw on tools you attained in LDR410: Leading with Wisdom, Vision and Values to integrate them with what you have learned in this class.
Think of yourself as a carpenter. It’s great that you know how to use a saw to cut wood, a router to cut grooves in wood, and a drill to create holes in wood for various reasons. Each of those separately allows you to do a piece of a job but do not allow you to produce a whole product. It is when you use all of those tools together on one project that a new piece of furniture or other project is born.

3. Review your resources from LDR 410 – Leading with Wisdom, Vision, and Values.
4. Review resources or concepts from at least one other course in the program that seems to apply to the content of this current course.
5. Write a 2-3 page paper that addresses the following prompts:
a. Describe the most important two things you learned so far in this class. Why are those things important and how will you integrate that learning into your current leadership opportunities?
b. Explain two ideas from the LDR 410 (Leading with Wisdom, Vision, and Values course) that may be useful in helping you lead in the midst of Advanced Technology, Big Data, AI, Fourth Industrial Revolution, or VUCA.
c. Connect at least two key insights from one or more other courses in the program so far. In other words, what principles, practices, or tools have you developed in your work that can apply (be the right tool) for leading in technology-infused and VUCA contexts?
6. Be sure to include an introduction and conclusion to your work.
7. Be sure to format your paper in APA and use correct citations

4.2 Discussion. Ethical Challenges
Getting Started
In LDR-305, you addressed the concepts of Ethics and Decision-Making. That was eight classes ago. Since that time, you have addressed the concepts of Followership, Organizational Behavior, the Psychology of Leadership, Leading Groups and Teams, Developing Others, Wisdom, Vision, Values, Communication, Innovation, and Change. Ethics touches each and every one of these concepts. In this discussion forum, you will reflect on how you have grown in your understanding of how to ethically address these concepts.
Background Information
It may be helpful for you to go back to LDR-305 and review some of the resources from that class and subsequent classes to refresh your memory. Some of those resources are below:

· Video: Ethical Leadership, Part 1: Perilous at the Top | Concepts Unwrapped
Instructions
1. Note that this week you are responding to predetermined questions and not creating your own.
2. Develop an initial post of 300-400 words responding to one or more of the following question prompts by the end of Day 4 of the workshop.
a. As you have progressed through the program, have you considered how ethics apply to the content you are studying?
b. In what ways has your understanding of how to apply ethics grown through the BSOL program?
c. In what ways do you still feel ill-equipped to address ethical issues?
