My leadership model
Introduction
My leadership model for this essay is democratic leadership. The democratic style of leadership is a mix of autocratic and hands-off. A democratic leader asks for input from their team and takes that feedback into account before making a decision.
Workers are more probable
to be invested in their work, creative, and satisfied with their jobs when their leaders use democratic leadership styles such as open communication, teamwork, and consensus.
Personal values
Individual
The personal values I have selected are; being a team player, having an inclination to adjust, having a fair mind, and being involved in the procedure. Individually, I am grateful when I can work with others since teamwork improves efficiency and production (Nedelko, et al. 2021). I am also delighted to employ sincerity in making decisions that are based on my morals and values.
Interpersonal
One of the interpersonal skills that I selected in the personal values of the democratic leadership style is wisdom and a mature understanding of life. As a leader, I am required to understand the life of the people I am leading from all dimensions. Having wisdom is a great advantage since I will be able to make sound decisions that will impact the organization or the people I am leading positively.
Organizational
One value that I admire a lot in the organization is embracing high performance. A democratic form of a leader is still there to offer management and switch, despite the procedure’s importance on group parity of leadership promotes open dialogue by permitting all associates to have their voices perceived. The democratic and the open flow of ideas. This brings motivation to the group hence enhancing collectivism.
Societal
Freedom of independence is a societal personal value that aligns with democratic leadership. In democratic leadership, everyone is allowed to do what they think is right. For instance, I a person chooses to feed the starving people in the community it is a good sign in improving the organization’s reputation. Other will not be limited to doing the same as long as they are helping the community.
Leadership behaviors
Individual
Individual leadership behaviors I always like encouraging creativity and collaboration (Caillier, 2020). This is one of the behaviors that most democratic leaders engage themselves with. As a democratic leader, I seek to get an extensive extent of viewpoints and worth the free flow of notions. As an outcome, through invention and originality, I think there will be higher innovation and creativity in my team.
Interpersonal
The interpersonal leadership behavior that I embrace the most is trust and honesty. As a leader, I will like my juniors to trust me as I trust them. Through this, we can work in harmony without blaming each other. When there is trust, there is a high rate of performance this is because the team members will be highly motivated.
Organizational
The organizational leadership behavior that I have selected is the distribution of leadership. As a leader, I always hate to lead alone. As a leader I always call for equal sharing of power, this is because I always want everybody to contribute in terms of decision-making. This enables everyone to feel appreciated and valued within the group.
Societal
The societal leadership behavior that I possess as a democratic leader is the behavior of placing high significance on transparency and communication. Communication is key in leadership, being able to communicate with others is what I value most. People feel encouraged when they are communicated to and embracing this type of behavior I think will be of huge advantage to me.
Leadership actions
Individual
As a democratic leader, the leadership action that I usually employ is seeking feedback and input from my subordinates. I usually like to encourage conversation and participation in the procedure of decision-making (Mansaray, 2019). For instance, I usually correct inputs from my subordinates monthly regarding making future decisions.
Interpersonal
As a democratic leader, the interpersonal leadership action that I will like to use is delegating tasks. As a leader, it is important to know my people, their qualities, and their capabilities. As a leader, I am always happy to assign tasks this is because; through assigning tasks, I will be able to keep an eye on every ongoing activity and to know which workers are interested in each work.
Organizational
One of the leadership actions I embrace as a democratic leader is inviting contribution from others in the organization to be part of decision-making. Nothing feels more interesting than valued team members or employees, they will give their best in making sure that the project r the organization succeeds in whatever they are doing(Mansaray, 2019).
Societal
As a democratic leader, one of the societal leadership actions that I employ most is people and relationship orientation. As a leader, I always know that people and relationships are very important to an organization’s health and work. So I always work hard to strengthen the social aspects of the company.
Meaning and purposes of values
Individual
The value I have selected is fostering confidentiality, as a democratic leader, I always want to encourage confidence among my subordinates. Through this, they will be able to work effectively without any distractions. As a leader, I always want the employees to feel confident in whatever they are doing such as completing tasks without supervision.
Interpersonal
The interpersonal value I have selected as a democratic leader is embracing teamwork. Teamwork in any organization is a driving force for the organization’s success. As a leader, I will like my subordinates to work in teams to encourage or boost teamwork. Through this, there will be good cohesion among the team and me as their leader.
Organizational
The organizational value I have selected for democratic leadership is keeping flexibility at the forefront. Leaders that take this approach let their workers determine how to best achieve their goals. It might include giving their staff more autonomy in particular situations or delegating more authority to them (Gultom, et al. 2020). Even if they delegate some authority to their subordinates, these leaders are eventually accountable for the team’s act, therefore they may enforce certain restraints on their assistants to keep them on development.
Societal
The societal value that I have selected as a democratic leader is creating a conducive working environment for my employees. Employees need to work in an environment free from any dangers. As a leader, I will mostly embrace this value. When the working environment is good, employees tend to be motivated.
Conclusion
Democratic leadership is a leadership model that allows the free participation of people in the organization. The leadership is supported by values such as encouraging employees, flexibility, etc. this leadership style suits my personality since I always like to support others a lot.
