PEERS POST:
Describe an instructional design scenario where you believe a task analysis would be difficult to carry out.
Tasks analysis can be a fun thing to carry out and watch. A great example of one working is having students, maybe third graders and up, list the steps to make a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. Even though there are times when this is easy, there are always some that could be difficult to carry out. Thinking in a health care sense, and what I deal with in my job, I think a task analysis that would be hard to carry out would be one dealing with food aggression.
The client is food aggressive. This can be caused from trauma and other things that might have happened within the client’s life. The goal is to overcome this aggression. So, we take baby step objectives to complete. However, all the work that has been done can go back to step one in an instant with one simple mistake or something the client doesn’t agree with. And each day this client can either be in a good mood or a bad mood.
We start with the idea and go through three tasks to reach the end of the day objective. There are many different factors that can prevent those tasks from being achieved. Sounds, other clients in the area who are also food aggressive, and the client’s attitude can all be factors that could make this task analysis hard to carry out, but not totally impossible.
You are the instructional designer in the human resources department of a midsized corporation. You have been assigned the task of creating instructions that address the appropriate use of corporate expense accounts. What factors may affect the goals you set for this instruction?
The factors that may affect the goals you set for this instruction would factor on training and what is currently going on within the company. How were the current employees trained to handle expenses? What records do we have to look at and examine? Is everyone in the company in the know of what is going on? With this knowledge, one can create instruction to counter all the problems, and even recommending a refresher training course is never a bad idea, especially when it comes to corporate expenses.
