Sustainability is becoming increasingly important for businesses to consider.
Aiming at sustainable development for a business means adopting new approaches
to doing business and making plans based on sustainable and ethical business.
Sustainable Development aims at achieving social progress, environmental
equilibrium, and economic growth. In the light of studying different theories in
accounting, the research project is about the application of accounting theories on
sustainable development issues. The research topics as follows:
First topic: “The effect of sustainable development on the financial performance”
Second topic: “Factors influencing corporate social responsibility disclosure.”
Third topic: “The effect of implementing green accounting on corporate financial
performance.”
Fourth topic: The effect of green innovation on corporate financial performance.”
Instructions:
1. Choose, at least, three articles in a recognized journal (e,g emerald and
Elsevier) and related to the sustainable development issue. (1.5 mark)
2. Clearly identify the research objective(s) and the research sample. (1.5 marks)
3. Correctly clarify the theories adapted in the three articles. (1.5 marks)
4. Review critically the three articles related to SD issues. (3 marks)
5. Clearly discuss the findings of the papers. (1.5 marks)
6. The writing is free or almost free of errors and sentences are well phrased and
demonstrate some variety in length and structure. (1 mark)
7. Respect research ethics (no cheating, no copy pastes from external sources).

8. Demonstrate effective communication skills in presenting all aspects of a
project with excellent language. (3 marks)
Formal criteria:
The pdf file should agree with all the following criteria:
✓ Use Cover page that contains (The course title, the project title, your
instructor’s name, your group’s number, the date of submission, and your
names).
✓ Use font Times New Roman 12 and 1.5 line spacing. (Use Bold and 14 for
titles)
✓ Paragraphs should be separated by a line space.
✓ the pages number should be 5 pages maximum.
✓ Provide references in APA formatting on the last page/s. Notes
✓ Each group of students must post their project on the Blackboard.
✓ Deadline is 28/04/2024 -11:59 pm.

General information:
The purpose of this project is to enable students to search effectively and discuss
published papers related to the application of accounting theories in sustainable
development issues.
The group work must contain 5 students maximum.
– Each group should present their project on the Blackboard two files:
✓ The research paper (pdf format).
✓ The presentation and discussion prepared by the students in a PPT file.
The assessment rubric is as follows:
Total points expected:
– 15 points of your total grade.
– Students in a group will get the same grade unless there are some students who
did not work on the project except for communication skills, it will be assessed
individually for each student.
(Note: instructor has the right to examine students to confirm their contribution in
this work.
Research due date:
by 28 April at 1pm _ LATE SUBMISSION IS NOT ACCEPTABLE.
Plagiarism:
All cheating ways (i.e. copy paste from the internet, etc.) are not acceptable and will
result in zero grade for all the group members – teaching faculty has the right to
examine students to confirm their participation in the research.
